ESKIMOS ARE BUILDING HOUSES WITH ICE. HOW WOULD BE THE FOUNDATION FORMED? ARE THERE SPECIAL MASONS?
Eskimos are building houses in the areas of Arctic. Those houses are called as ‘Igloo’. Though this looks like a ‘‘hemisphere’, it has ‘paraboloid’ shape. The pressure of this shape helps for the ice cubes to join with each other. You cannot use any kind of ice cubes for constructing these kinds of houses. The ice cubes should be such as to cut in right size and so as to be with spaces for arranging. They should also be strong. The ices which come through the wind only are considered for having such qualities. These kinds of ices are arranged duly joining together tightly.
When the entrance doors are opened, the chill air should not speedily go inside and there should not also be the heat -loss. For this, narrow subway is built up at the entrance of the Igloo houses. The inner side of these types of houses is also closed with leather. Because of this, the temperature inside the houses would rise from 2 degrees to 15 degrees.
