There is a temple for Srinivasa Perumal in Thiruchendur. This temple is near the Punnai Nagar-village. It is good for worshipping him on Wednesdays and Fridays. There is a long-standing relationship between the ‘Punnai Tree’ and Perumal. The ‘Head –Tree of Srirangam Temple is ‘Punnai-Tree only .This temple was built up by Variyar- Swamikal. The sun rays fall on the right hand of Perumal as if the rays worship Perumal.

This temple has been built up in an area of 23,000 sq.ft in a period of 22 months, according to the sastra of Mayan. In this temple ‘Raja Ganapathy’ gives first Dharshan. In the ‘MahaMandapam which is otherwise known as ‘Ashtalaksmi Mandapam’ There are Sakkaraththazvar, Yoga Narasimhar giving Dharshan to the devotees. In the Brahma Sthanam, Perumal gives dharshan, facing towards eastern side.  He is giving a feeling as if Thiruppathi- Perumal is worshipped.

Abishekam is performed for Perumal on Fridays and for the Moolavar on Wednesdays. If he is worshipped on these days, it is believed that marriages will be conducted, without any hurdles. If Perumal is worshipped on Thursdays, planetary –dhosham will go away.

There is a Naga Kanniamman Temple, near this Perumal-Temple. If the Amman is worshipped, rumatism-deceases like severe knee-pain will be cured.   Temple will be kept open from 7.00 am to night 8.00 pm.

For reaching this temple, you should go to Kurumbur (45 km) which is on the road from Tirunelveli to Tiruchendur.  Punnai Nagar is situated at a distance of 5 km from Kurumbur. Tiruchendur falls at a distance of 20km from Kurumbur.
